What is Deep Nostalgia?
Deep Nostalgia is an AI feature from MyHeritage that brings old, still family photographs to life by generating short animated clips of the people in them. It is offered alongside MyHeritage's family tree builder, archival record search and DNA tests, and it has been widely shared online, with the page citing more than 119 million animations created so far.
Users upload a photo of a relative or ancestor and the tool produces an animation of the face and head moving. The page presents this as a way to reconnect with family history and share the results with relatives. Within the wider MyHeritage service, the animated photos can be kept alongside a family tree, historical records and photo colorization or enhancement tools.
