What is ChatWithCloud?

ChatWithCloud is a command-line tool that connects to your own AWS account using the profiles already stored in your ~/.aws folder. You install it with npx, npm, brew, pnpm or bun and then type questions in plain English, such as which S3 buckets are public or what you spent last month by service. The AI model interprets the question, writes an AWS SDK script, and the CLI runs that script locally against your account.

The results come back as a contextual answer rather than raw JSON. You can use it for cost analysis (finding idle EC2 instances or unattached EBS volumes), security reviews (listing IAM users with admin access and no MFA), troubleshooting (checking why a Lambda is failing or which CloudWatch alarms fired today), and making changes such as adjusting a Lambda timeout or stopping dev instances. The tool states that generated code runs without a confirmation step, so a read-only IAM role is recommended.

Key features

  • Natural language questions turned into AWS SDK calls
  • Cost breakdowns from your billing data
  • IAM and S3 public access auditing
  • CloudWatch alarm and Lambda troubleshooting
  • Ability to make infrastructure changes such as updating timeouts or stopping instances
  • Runs locally using your existing ~/.aws profile

Who is it for

  • DevOps engineers
  • Cloud and platform engineers
  • Developers managing AWS infrastructure
  • Teams doing AWS cost and security reviews

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Answers are specific to your live account rather than general AWS advice
  • Credentials are read from ~/.aws and AWS calls are made from your machine
Cons
  • Generated code runs without a confirmation step, so least-privilege IAM roles are advised
  • Paid plans or your own OpenAI key are needed after the first 15 free runs
