MongoDB Atlas is a fully managed cloud database built on the MongoDB document model. It combines operational and transactional data, full-text and vector search, stream processing, and analytics in a single platform that can run on any major cloud or on your own infrastructure.
In practice, you store application data as flexible documents and query it through one API. Vector Search lets you store embeddings next to your data and run semantic search, recommendations, anomaly detection or retrieval context for generative AI apps. Atlas Stream Processing handles high-velocity event streams, such as data from Apache Kafka, using the same aggregation pipeline stages you use for the database. Voyage AI provides embedding models and rerankers, and Atlas Agent Engine (public preview) is for building and governing AI agents.
