What is Luminar Neo?
Luminar Neo is a photo editing application from Skylum that uses artificial intelligence to detect which areas of a photo need adjustment. Instead of working through many manual controls, the user moves a slider and the AI applies the change to the relevant parts of the image, such as skies, skin, or backgrounds. The product is sold as Luminar on Desktop for macOS and Windows, Luminar on Mobile for iOS and Android, and Luminar on Web, which is announced for Fall 2026. It also works as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and Apple Photos.
In practice you can replace skies, relight a scene with a golden-hour effect, smooth skin, blur backgrounds, remove distractions or objects, expand a scene beyond its borders, restore old photos, denoise and upscale images. It supports raw files from over 1000 cameras as well as JPEG, PNG and TIFF, and includes layers, masking, a clone tool and dodge and burn controls. Edits are non-destructive and can be synced between mobile and desktop.
