What is Vanna?
Vanna is an open-source framework (installable with pip) for building AI agents that turn natural-language questions into SQL queries against your database. It works with several LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama) and databases (SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, and others), so you can self-host the core framework and choose your own model and data source.
The product is aimed at letting non-SQL users in an organization ask questions of their systems of record. Vanna 2.0 adds user-scoped execution, multi-turn conversations, rich UI components and quota management. An optional hosted layer, sold separately, adds access control, observability and tracing, hosted agent memory, file storage, audit logs and long-term data retention.
